offered by Microsoft, Novell, Cisco, Lotus, Check Point, Nokia,
and VeriSign. And because we measure our success by global yardsticks,
not just those of Bermuda, Independent Consulting Solutions is increasingly

Knowledge is our product and people come to us for both our technical
knowledge and our business experience. We have built up knowledge
in vertical markets like banking, reinsurance, retail, utilities
and shipping which is not something that’s easy to “brand”
or “sell” but when we’re on-site, it’s practical

We spend a lot of time with CEOs and CIOs, helping them rationalize
the business reasons for their technology plans. Because of our
wide operational experience, we can suggest methods and techniques

at about 25% per year is because of the relationships we have built
up over many years. It is extremely rare for us to lose a customer.
And our close relationships with key people in companies like Microsoft
means we have a direct channel to them that we can leverage and
bring directly to our customers.
At Independent Consulting Solutions we see a big future in wireless
and believe that telecommunications and application development,
particularly for bandwidth-hungry applications, are going to be
very successful. We believe that a trend will emerge with bandwidth
in the same way that Microsoft built applications to take advantage
of ever-accelerating microprocessor power.
We also believe there’s a natural maturing of the market in
Bermuda. The infrastructure is largely in place and at the leading
edge we’re seeing the focus shift towards application development
and making the technology do more. Ninety per cent of businesses
are stuck in a maintenance mode where they can barely keep up with
technology. We move our customers past that with a three-year plan,
so that the maintenance problems go away and they can spend their
money and resources on developing applications and systems that
release the power of the network or the individual — or both
